Trudy James
A trained hospital chaplain and commissioned Lay Minister of the Episcopal
Church, Trudy James has devoted much of her professional career to bringing
compassionate care to people dying and, more frequently the case now, living
with AIDS. Beginning in 1989 with her work in Arkansas, she has trained hundreds
of congregation-based volunteer teams to provide practical and emotional support
to people with HIV/AIDS and their families. In 1997 she relocated to Seattle
where she developed a network of AIDS CareTeams for Multifaith Works, a Seattle
non-profit. She has received much grateful recognition for her work, including
an invitation by President Clinton to a Prayer Breakfast at the White House on
the eve of World AIDS Day in 1993. Trudy is Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor to the
Advisory Board of Compassion and Choices of Washington and currently works as a
per diem chaplain at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She leads workshops and
retreats on compassionate listening, and is an inspirational speaker on death
and dying, volunteer motivation and creating community.
Trudy grew up in a small town in central Kansas where her 93-year-old mother
still lives. She received her undergraduate degree in English and Humanities
from the University of Kansas and holds a Masters Degree in Religious Education
from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Her past employment also
includes hospital Director of Volunteers, Christian Education Director and Youth
Director for the Episcopal Church. Learn more

Lloyd Robinson
In today's climate, Trust is more critical than ever before. Trust is the
one ingredient that can change everything. Whatever our situation, we need
to work at establishing and restoring Trust as the most effective way of
relating to others. This Forum will examine the elements of Trust and
Distrust as well as define the essential building blocks of Trust.
'We're never so vulnerable as when we trust someone -- but, paradoxically,
if we cannot trust neither can we find love or joy'
