In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Do these words speak to your soul at this time of year? Do you sometimes find the false cheer of commercialized Christmas contrary to the inward longings of your heart in the Advent season? The days are short, the leaves have fallen, and trees laid bare. The mood outside the window often reflects the inner bleakness, and that’s okay. Join Carmen Hoffman and the Rev. Kate Wesch in conversation about faith laid bare in Advent. Our time will include Evening Prayer and a Holy Spirit potluck (i.e. bring whatever you want).
5:30–6 pm | Evening Prayer in the Great Hall
6–8 pm | Potluck and discussion in the Fireside Room
