Creation Care at Epiphany

Activities

Mission

The Epiphany Creation Care ministry works in the spiritual and physical realms to develop our ministry of Creation Care. We believe that environmental justice is inextricably linked with social justice, and that our physical and spiritual worlds are one. As Christians we are charged with stewardship of the earth. Regular Bible studies, local community involvement, and work teams on issues such as facilities and waste reduction come together to work toward Epiphany becoming a Greening Congregation. Creation Care will also work with the Vestry and Buildings and Grounds to analyze and make recommendations, as well as track progress on Epiphany Parish's participation in the Genesis Covenant.

A Prayer

Lord, we ask for your guidance to help us to protect and to be good stewards of the Earth; we ask for your miracle to heal our beautiful home. Through the open window comes the clear and lovely trill of a songbird. It's only a little brown bird, Lord, yet we heard your voice, your answer in the songbird's call. From the small beautiful bird with its plaintive heartsong, to the child and the elderly, with similar needs; from the forests and mountains edging the ocean, to the violets with dewdrops in the clear beautiful morning. "Oh Lord, our governor, how excellent is thy name in all the world!" May we go forth and honor your name in all of creation. Amen.

Resolution on Creation Care

Reducing your Household Carbon Footprint

Imagine...if not only congregations worked to reduce energy consumption and use sustainable resources, but if each household in the congregation did as well! Households influence neighborhoods which influence communities, which make up our world! It's a good reminder that change does begin at home.
