Everybody Hour on Sundays

August 4th, 2016

Everybody HourThis fall, we’re instituting a slightly new formation schedule for Sunday mornings, a format we are calling Everybody Hour. Everybody Hour is a time for Christian formation for ALL ages, and will happen between the 8:45 am and 11 am services in locations around campus. Adult Forums will continue as they always have, but children and youth will now be in formation classes at the same time. We will also offer some secondary classes for adults.

The other addition will be the First Sunday Brunches. Every month, starting in October, there will be no classes so that everybody in the parish can come together for brunch in the Great Hall. These brunches will be hosted by different ministry groups each time. This will be a great time to hang out with people who go to a different service, as well as to learn more about what’s happening in the parish.

Why the change?

First, we want children and youth to experience worship in church. Our previous model of having Sunday School during our 11 am service and Youth Group in the evening made it so children didn’t actually get to experience worship. Second, we want to give families more worship options—namely, not just at the 11 am service so children can go to Sunday School. Children and youth are welcome at any services. And third, we want to increase the number of people available to teach children, youth, and even adults. People who have been interested in working with children and youth, especially, now do not have to miss church to do so.

We hope that Everybody Hour will be a rich time of learning and growing for parishioners of all ages at Epiphany!

  • PreK–K: Matthew
  • Grades 1–3: John
  • Grades 4–5: Upper Room

Formation Classes for Youth

YouthFormationNew exciting things are happening in youth formation! Our middle- and high- schoolers will meet together for class every Sunday during Everybody Hour in the Youth Room (Christie House Basement). The classes will include a Master Class on the Christian Life and classes to prepare for Confirmation. In addition to Sunday mornings, the Middle School Youth Group will meet once a month on a Sunday evening, and the High School Youth Group will meet periodically for dinner.

Contact Laura Sargent for more information.

Forums and Classes for Adults

AdultFormationAs we have done for many years, we will offer Forums in the Great Hall on various topics with various speakers. You can find a full schedule of fall forums in the September Monthly Message or here.

In addition to forums, we will also offer some secondary classes at the same time, geared toward smaller groups on particular topics for several weeks at a time. For example, Doyt and Todd will be leading the Divine Conspiracy Minyan during Everybody Hour this fall in the Christie House Library. Other classes will meet in the Garden Room. Find more classes in the September Monthly Message or here.

First Sunday Brunches

FIRSTA brunch with your friends from all the services!

On the first Sunday of every month (except September and January), join us in the Great Hall for brunch during Everybody Hour at 10 am. This is a time to remember that relationship is primary! Each brunch will be hosted by a different ministry group or small group, who will have opportunity to briefly “show and tell” about important upcoming events and opportunities related to their group. Our parish may be spread across four different celebrations of Eucharist on any given Sunday, but this brunch is meant to be your opportunity to catch up with everybody: please put it on your calendar and be sure to join us! Contact Todd Foster if you think your group might be interested in hosting a brunch.
