Stewardship and Giving
Without the support of time and money from parishioners and friends,
Epiphany would not be able to carry out its mission.
The Stewardship Committee has the responsibility of gently reminding us of
the need to be part of that support.
For ways to support Epiphany with your time and talent,
see the Programs and Activities page.
There are several ways to give financial support to Epiphany Parish:
-
Pledges
-
Securities
-
Planned Giving
-
Capital Campaigns
-
Give online, by clicking on this button:
Note: your donation will be handled by a secure server at PayPal.
If you have an account with PayPal, no transaction fee will be charged;
if you use a credit card, a transaction fee will be deducted from your donation.
You will receive an email confirmation, and Epiphany Parish will receive
a notification so your donation can be credited for tax purposes.
An Open Letter about Stewardship
This is an invitation to each of you and any others you would like to bring
along to be involved in the Stewardship Committee.
It is a time for reflection and action as we go
forth and alert others to the need to support and nurture the spiritual
sustenance that abides at Epiphany.
This year, our theme will favor the humble tax collector from Luke
18:9-14:
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked
down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable:
10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other
a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself:
'God, I thank you that I am not like other men - robbers, evildoers,
adulterers - or even like this tax collector.
12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
13 But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look
up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a
sinner.'
14 I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home
justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Humble giving is the spirit in which we ask for your reflection,
participation and aid in gaining the help of other parishioners in
stewarding Epiphany through 2008 and beyond.
Peace and blessings,
Bruce and Sean Johnson, Stewardship Volunteers
All members of Epiphany are called to support the parish
through an annual pledge. A strong base of pledges allows the parish
to budget with confidence for the year.
Did you know that you can pay your pledge by
a regularly-scheduled charge on your VISA or MasterCard?
Call the Parish Office to get details on how you can set this up.
Giving stocks whose value has appreciated both helps Epiphany and helps with
your own tax bill:
- If you itemize deductions, you are credited with the full
market value of the securities on the date of donation, just as with a cash donation.
- If, instead, you had sold the securities, then donated the cash, you would owe
capital gains tax on the gain in value.
Please consider Epiphany with a bequest in your will.
You may wish to also consider a Charitable Remainder Trust, which allows you to
continue to draw income from securities which have been
bequeathed to the Church. See your financial advisor to discuss whether
this approach makes sense for you.
Here is
more information on planned giving.
From time to time, Epiphany
conducts a capital campaign to secure financing to meet needs
which exceed the capacity of our operating funds.
For instance, in 1997, the Noack Organ was funded in this manner,
and a recent campaign
has helped replenish reserves used in 2007 to construct the Ambulatory
connecting the Church and Chapel.
Capital campaigns are an excellent opportunity to
make a significant, long-lasting gift
in memory of a loved one.
However, you don't have to wait for an official
campaign, as there are almost always needs which can't be
met from current funds.
Please contact the Parish clergy if you wish to discuss a gift.
