Sunday | May 19 | 3:30 pm | Fireside Room
From the book An Episcopal Dictionary of the Church, pastoral care is defined as “the ministry of caring at the heart of the church’s life.” It includes parish ministries of clergy and laity who respond to human need. In this forum, we will explore the lives and service of such notables in pastoral care as St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa), Jean Vanier (founder of l’Arche), the Reverend David Jackson (former Associate Rector, Epiphany Parish), and the Reverend Doyt L. Conn, Jr. (current Rector of Epiphany Parish), among others. Every Christian is a minister, and as pastoral care ministers who want to live our lives in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we can learn from the lifestyles of these exemplars of pastoral care ministry and faith, to prepare us ourselves as Christians who serve. All are welcome to this gathering. The time spent together will be relaxed and informal with food, drink, and fellowship.
