Madame Guyon is not a household name in the pantheon of Christian apologists, but her short book Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ has impacted many Christians’ lives especially when dealing with tragedy. Jeanne Guyon is one of those people whose lifetime was defined by disaster, suffering, oppression, imprisonment and persecution, yet somehow was able to experience peace. She had a piece of heaven on earth that many of us may never understand or know. She did, however, try to capture the essence of her contentment through her writings and her practice of Quietism.
