There are many ways to share our gifts with our friends in Christ beyond our parish.
For many years Epiphany has collected seasonal donations for families living in YWCA transitional housing: Easter Baskets in the spring, backpacks and school supplies in late summer, and Halloween pumpkins, Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts at holiday times. Announcements for these collections appear in the Weekly Word.
Operation Nightwatch, Teen Feed, and the YWCA always need socks, warm hats and gloves, toothbrushes, toothpaste, aspirin, lotions, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, deodorant, and other small comforts for emergency shelter supplies. While construction continues, you can drop donations in the basket outside the Service & Outreach office in the Christie House basement.
MAGAZINE & BOOK MINISTRY
Parishioner Alex Polson faithfully collects paperback books and magazines (first removing address labels) and delivers them to local organizations like the YWCA transitional housing and emergency shelter and Plymouth Housing. Before you recycle, bring your old paperbacks and magazines to Epiphany!
A decades-old tradition at Epiphany, the hunger basket sits at the chancel steps to collect your contributions for those who are hungry. The current recipient is the East Cherry YWCA Food Bank.
“HAVE A HEART” DINNER
Each February, the Service & Outreach Committee invite the parish to the annual “Have a Heart” parish party following a beautiful Choral Evensong service. This event is the main fundraiser for all of Epiphany’s outreach ministries. You and parish friends will enjoy a lively evening with food and drink, a rousing auction, and raffle drawings for wine and other prizes, all the while doing good things for our community.
