St Augustine Complete Surrender | Sunday | September 30 | 10:00 am Spiritual Formation Forum | Great Hall
St Augustine was the Bishop of Hippo in the fifth century. After an education in law and rhetoric, along with a well-documented devotion to philandering, Augustine, after a long struggle, embraced Christianity. He returned to his native Africa and entered a monastic life for the next thirty-four years. He was a prolific writer whose insights not only shaped the age he lived in, but all the subsequent centuries of Christianity. It is difficult to find any theologican today who has not been influenced by the teachings of Augustine. The devotional used for this session comes from his autobiography Confessions and sheds light on the eternal struggle of the will and its surrender to Christ.
