The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, is one of the world’s greatest Christian artworks.  In it, Christ’s disciples react with shock, dismay and surprise to his pronouncement, “One of you will betray me,” the epic, fateful event which led to the cross.  In this mural commissioned by the Duke of Milan, Leonardo captures universal emotions in a scene of tense drama, with vivid portrayals of the disciples, and a Christ figure whose pathos has captured the world’s imagination for centuries.  Bill Ingham, Epiphany parishioner and Northwest artist, will discuss how Leonardo created this compelling work, its composition, its design, its cast of characters, and finally the restorative efforts to save it.
