Wholehearted Women: Our Stories and the Sacred Story
Who: Women of all ages.
When: Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1
Where: St. Andrew’s Retreat Center on the Hood Canal
Facilitator: Rev. Cathy Boyd, Trinity Episcopal Church in Marble Falls, Texas
Cost: $225 for the weekend—includes two nights lodging and all meals.
We are intrigued by the Biblical stories of women of faith. And while our lives may feel very different from theirs, we struggle with many of the same things. With stories of Biblical women as a starting point, we will incorporate aspects of Brené Brown’s “Daring Way” and “Rising Strong” research findings into our Bible study. Brown’s research on vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness will inform the discussion as we seek to deepen the daily practice of our faith.
You are invited to join other women of Epiphany for a weekend to talk about what it means to engage our senses along the spiritual journey—whether that means paying attention, getting lost, encountering others, saying no, feeling pain, being present, or pronouncing blessing. We hope you can join us. Contact Ann Lockhart with questions.
The Rev. Cathy Boyd has been leading retreats for women for 25 years and loves the fellowship, laughter, and discovery that happen in a group of women. She is a certified Daring Way facilitator with a particular interest in a theological and biblical (rather than strictly psychological or self-help-y) approach to the research. She has two fantastic grown children, and lives with her husband in Austin, where she is associate rector at Trinity Episcopal Church in Marble Falls. Cathy and Kate attended seminary together. Cathy also has a blog that she updates occasionally.
The 2016 women’s retreat is FULL. If you would like to get to know other women at Epiphany, join us on the first Saturday of every month at 9 am in the Fireside Room for a more information time of discussion and fellowship.
